Many celebrities like Goldie Hawn, Steven Spielberg, Robert Redford, Mel Gibson, and Danny DeVito make their homes in the exclusive area of Broad Beach in Malibu. There are 108 homes along this 1.1-mile stretch of beach.
One of the most expensive Malibu neighborhoods, Broad Beach is situated from the axis of Broad Beach Road to the Pacific Coast Highway. At the Trancas Canyon Road traffic light the Pacific Coast Highway (PCH) joins the eastern end of Broad Beach Road. The beach goes on to the western end where Victoria Point was owned by Paulette Goddard. And the point is home to architect John Lautner.
In 1978 a fire burned down many homes in this area before being extinguished by the sea. Some of the homes have not been upgraded but there are many spectacular and expensive houses here. Many homes on the beach have easements that give public access an extra 25 feet of beach but the exact lines are not always clear. And conflicts over access are continuous. The public can get to the beach via a stairway at 31344 Broad Beach Road and a walkway at 31200.
Living at Broad Beach is an amazing experience. Homes have stunning views of the ocean and coastline; usually from every room. The entertainment deck is the place to be for entertaining with lawns that roll down to the sand. Amenities include pools, fitness gyms, theater rooms, and guest quarters. Residents love the fireplaces throughout and gourmet kitchens with cooking islands. Home prices range from the low millions to $50+ million. Just minutes away you’ll find the Trancas Country Market Shopping Center which has a Starbucks, grocery store, dining, gas station, and dry cleaning.
The Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School district provides public education with facilities like Juan Cabrillo Elementary and Malibu High School.
